How Does It Work?

By exploring deeper levels of awareness, Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra creates space to come out of “fight or flight,” (ya know, that feeling you sometimes get like you’re being attacked by imaginary tigers) and rest into a more fully relaxed experience (like the calm you feel after you have been on your favorite vacation for three days…when you don’t know what day it is and don’t really care).

In a Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra practice, you are taken on an ever-deepening journey to Self, just like heading to that vacation, but without ever having to leave your yoga mat.

You’ll easily follow along to Kimberly’s voice as she guides you to use body sensing, breath awareness, guided imagery and other approaches. Again, all are simply explained during your practice. As each layer (yes, you and I have layers!) is experienced, you may go deeper and deeper, feel as if you’re falling asleep and head into a state of complete relaxation. You may even feel like you’re asleep. This is where the thinking mind (aka the monkey brain) is transcended and the wisdom of the true Self is revealed (hooray!).

One session allows you the space to deeply relax, calm, and restore.

Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra turns off fight or flight, quiets the monkey brain, and takes you on a journey to Self…without ever having to leave your yoga mat. 

Continuous practice offers you the possibility to experience deeper levels of healing, connection and transformation.

This easy and accessible practice uses a systematic approach based on the yogic “koshas,” or sheaths, which in yogic philosophy are layers (here are those layers again) that cover the true Self. When these layers are pulled back, they are said to reveal the essence of existence, or the bliss layer, giving access to a deeply connected experience without any barriers. Confused? Don’t worry about it! All you have to do is listen to the sound of Kimberly’s voice.

Do I have to be a “yogi”?

Definitely not! Everyone can practice Divine Sleep®, and benefit from its effects. This easy peasy guided meditation practice can be enjoyed and practiced by all.

Simply lie down, breathe, and become as comfy as you can. Kimberly provides you with simple instructions. As you listen to her voice, you may feel yourself becoming more and more at rest; experiencing the “sense of being,” and the “falling away” of tension, stress, and anxiety.

Although it may feel as if you are sleeping, studies have shown your consciousness is actually functioning at a deeper level of awareness, allowing you the opportunity to deeply relax, restore, and heal.
